Genesis Does What Nintendon't was the catch phrase used in the early 1990s in the USA to promote the Sega Genesis' 2nd generation of games. There were multiple variations of the commercials featuring different sets of games. "Nintendon't" is a reference to Nintendo, particularly the NES as the 16 bit SNES had yet to be released.

[edit] Television commercial

The commercial consistently sang the lyrics "GENESIS DOES! YOU CAN'T DO THIS ON NINTENDO! GENESIS DOES! GENESIS DOES!" There were multiple variations of the commercials featuring different sets of games. One of the set included Super Monaco GP, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, Joe Montana Football, Pat Riley Basketball, James "Buster" Douglas Knockout Boxing, and Columns. The commercial stated that one of the games on this list can be chosen when purchasing the Sega Genesis, except for Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.

[edit] Magazine

In the 1990s the most popular gaming magazines like Electronic Gaming Monthly and GamePro commonly carried a two-page advertisement. It also featured extensively in Sega's own Sega Visions magazine.
