GenerationQ.Net (Commonly also known as just GenerationQ) was originally established as queerplanet in Sydney, Australia by Andrew Stopps in 2002, with the name changed to GenerationQ.Net in August of 2006. The original purpose of the site was to be as an entertainment and style ezine.

GenerationQ.Net now comprises 4 sites, each focusing on a different geographical area of the world. Each of these sites operates relatively independently, with each regional ezine covering all aspects and opinions of queer culture and lifestyle.

Over 70 reporters, photographers, editors and support staff form the backbone of GenerationQ.Net, with the majority working as volunteers across the world. Virtual offices are based in various different locations, including:Australia: Sydney (Head Office), Melbourne, Brisbane; American:New York, NY, Tampa, FL, Augusta, Austin, TX, Baltimore, MD, Los Angeles, CA, and Phoenix, AZ; Canada: Vancouver, Toronto; UK: London, Norwich, Bedfordshire.

With the move to the GenerationQ.Net branding, the organization aims to have a wider focus, with a shift in target audience towards all youth, not necessarily those who identify as members of the GLBTIQ community. Along with this shift in audience, GenerationQ has changed its focus more towards Equal Rights across the board, not just within the GLBTIQ community. Additionally, GenerationQ aims to raise money and raise awareness for various charities through fundraising and advertising efforts.

As GenerationQ aims to be accessible to youth, it does not contain any information or material that is pornographic, highly sexual or inappropriate to youth.
