General Steel Corporation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

General Steel Corporation is a contract manufacturer of American-made steel buildings and was founded in 1995 in Lakewood, Colorado. General Steel supplies buildings to the continental U.S. in addition to many foreign countries. The company states that it can supply steel buildings that are adaptable to almost any application. These categories include, but are not limited to, church buildings, schools, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, agricultural structures, and sports complexes. General Steel underscores that the use of steel buildings is both cost-efficient and more durable when compared to similar sized conventionally constructed structures.

Buildings supplied by General Steel are capable of clear-span (column-free interior) construction of up to 300 feet in width with no constraints on width. This type of construction allows for more efficient space utilization under roof.

The steel buildings of the 21st century are more refined than the bland metal boxes that represented “steel construction” early in the 20th century. Quality steel building suppliers, such as General Steel, now feature premium components that enhance the appearance of any structure. Exterior options such as commercial grade doors, windows, and rock, stone, brick, and stucco facades are available to complete any building project. There are also colored panel choices and exterior trim options. These additions are in response, in large part, to community covenants and strict local building codes in many locations that require the steel building to conform to surrounding structures in appearance.

The popularity of steel building construction is seen in the cost savings that is generated when compared to more conventional building types such as brick, wood, or concrete.
