General Learning Corporation was a joint venture formed when Time, Inc., Silver Burdett, and General Electric put up $18 million in 1965. Silver Burdett was the first division in the new alliance. Former Commissioner of Education Francis Keppel was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GLC from 1966-1974.
