General Directory

General Directory.us is a free, human edited web directory of high quality websites. Websites are listed for free depending on the quality of the content. The main key factor for deciding the eligibility for being listed is the PageRank of the websites. Each site is periodically monitored by human editors to maintain the quality of the index. The editors of the website are a group of volunteers. The website was started as a General Internet Directory in Dec 2nd, 1999.
The site provides visitors with a searchable, user-friendly database of high PR websites. Like the Open Directory Project, General Directory also uses a hierarchical ontology scheme for organizing site listings. Listings on a similar topic are grouped into categories, which can then include smaller categories. At present the directory contains over 250 different categories and sub categories.
Recently the directory was upgraded to the latest version of the PhpLD directory script. It was also decided to remove the obsolete listing from the database and to start from scratch.
