The Gelsenberg Lager was a subcamp of the concentration camp Buchenwald in Gelsenkirchen-Horst
In this subcamp about 2000 Hungarian Jewesses were accommodated.The girls and women shoud clear the area of the Gelsenberg Benzin AG of rubble in the summer 1944. With heavy bomb attacks on the hydrogenation plant in September 1944 about 150 of them came to death, a few of them survived heavyhurt in Gelsenkirchener hospitals
After the dissolution of the camp in the middle of September 1944 all other Hungarian Jewesses in the camp were send to the subcamp soemmerda in Thuringia all remaining women were shifted to Essen into another subcamp of the KZ Buchenwald
