Gelastic seizure

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gelastic seizures are a type of minor seizure that manifests as a sudden, unprovoked outburst of emotion, usually laughter or crying. When occurring as isolated events, they are usually of short duration, lasting from a few seconds to less than a minute, but they also may be seen as part of a more general seizure. As is common with other minor seizure types, the sufferer may or may not lose consciousness or retain memory of the event.
