Smith's Green-eyed Gecko or Large Forest Gecko Gekko smithii is a species of gecko. Similar species: G. taylori and G. gecko. Also similar to G. verreauxii (from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands) and G. siamensis (from C-Thailand).
One of the biggest geckos (reaching 350 mm or more). Named after Andrew Smith (1797-1872), Scottish zoologist and founder of the South African Museum. Distribution: S Thailand (Satun, Narathiwatk Pattani), Singapore, W Malaysia (Pulau Pinang, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Pulau Tioman), Myanmar (= Burma), India: Nicobar Islands, Indonesia (Borneo, Sumatra, Pulau Nias, Java)
Type locality: Prince of Wales' Island (= Pulau Pinang, West Malaysia)
