Gego

Gertrude Goldschmidt (1912-1994) also known as Gego, was a modern Latin American artist and sculptor, active in Venezuela. She was born in 1912 in Hamburg, Germany, and arrived in Venezuela in 1939. She died in 1994. Along with Alejandro Otero, Carlos Cruz-Diez and Jesus Rafael Soto, she belongs to the Kinetic Artist movement of Venezuela in the late 20th Century. She is known for her mesh-like constructions using cords and wires.
