Geddes is a city in Charles Mix County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 252 at the 2000 census.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 252 people, 122 households, and 61 families residing in the city. The population density was 162.2/km² (420.4/mi²). There were 160 housing units at an average density of 103.0/km² (266.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.02% White, 0.79% Native American, 0.40% Asian, 0.79% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.79% of the population.
There were 122 households out of which 22.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.0% were married couples living together, 4.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 50.0% were non-families. 49.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 34.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.07 and the average family size was 2.98.
In the city the population was spread out with 19.8% under the age of 18, 11.9% from 18 to 24, 20.6% from 25 to 44, 15.1% from 45 to 64, and 32.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 90.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $21,250, and the median income for a family was $36,250. Males had a median income of $20,938 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,520. About 15.5% of families and 13.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.3% of those under the age of eighteen and 23.6% of those sixty five or over.
