Gavin Rothery (born September 22, 1987) is a young English footballer who plays in attacking midfield for Leeds United. Rothery currently plays for Leeds' reserve team, and in the 2004-05 was given a place on the first team's bench and was given the squad number, 35, but for the following two seasons his squad number was mysteriously withdrawn and did not get anywhere near the first team again. Rothery was loaned out to Farsley Celtic for the 2001-2002 season.

However, on 30 September 2006, it was revealed Rothery has had major ankle surgery, but has now recovered. Ex Leeds caretaker manager John Carver revealed that Rothery is in his plans for the first team this season. It is unknown whether Rothery features in the plans of new manager, Dennis Wise.

Many Leeds fans believe Rothery to be capable of a first team place after a successful few seasons with the reserves and playing for the England Under 19s, but still has failed to actually play for the first team. Rothery currently has a footwear deal with German giants Adidas^[1].

Rothery, who went to Morley High School, played his first football with Churwell Lions juniors before being spotted at an early age by the Leeds talent scouts to become a member of the Elland Road academy from the age of 10.
