Gavan O'Connor

Gavan Michael O'Connor (born 2 December 1947), Australian politician, has been an Australian Labor Party member of the Australian House of Representatives since March 1993, representing the Division of Corio, Victoria. He was born in Colac, Victoria, and was educated at St Patrick's College, Ballarat, Monash University and the University of New England. He was a farmer, high school teacher, and member of the Colac City Council before entering Parliament.
O'Connor was Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition (Kim Beazley) 1996-98 and a Member of the Opposition Shadow Ministry from October 1998. He has been Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries since December 2003.
He lost his endorsement as the ALP candidate for Corio to Richard Marles in March 2006.
