hai friends i want know why the AM waves are able to travel for a long distance rathe than the FM waves MY E-MAIL ID IS siva_marvel@yahoo.co.in

This issue is talked about here. AM uses lower frequencies meaning that the waves travel further, but have less "penetration" through obstacles. FM has greater penetration (meaning that it is less affected by a concrete wall for instance). AM radio is also capable of skipping. Cacophony 00:56, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
