"Gasolin' 3" (released in November 1973) was the first Gasolin' album to be produced by Roy Thomas Baker and his importance cannot be overestimated. Not only did he improve the sound quality; Baker would also encourage the band to become better musicians and push the musical boundaries.
This shows in the tighter rhythm section of Wili Jönsson and Søren Berlev and the sharper guitar and moog synthesizer playing of Franz Beckerlee giving the music a professionel and international edge. Songs such as "Jeg er splittergal" and "Shu-bi-du-mand" are experimental and on "Smukke Linda" and "Det var Inga, Katinka og Smukke Charlie på sin Harley" Gasolin' proved they were no strangers to boogie rock. The latter song was their first hit single and "Gasolin' 3" became a big seller in Denmark.
"Gasolin' 3" was recorded in Rosenberg Studio in Copenhagen with Freddy Hansson as sound engineer and "Det var Inga, Katinka og Smukke Charlie på sin Harley"/"Jeg er splittergal" and "Bessefar"/"Smukke Linda" were released as singles. In 1974 "Gasolin' 3" was released with English lyrics as "Gasolin'". (see also "A Foreign Affair 1")
"Gasolin' 3" was released on CD in 1987 with "Stakkels Jim" and in 1991 it was remastered for CD. In 2003 it was included in The Black Box.
