Final Whistle was formed in 2006 by league president Tony Armer, and is currently contested by 13 clubs (Only 12 are active). In a total of three seasons, the title has been won by Valencia (Season 1), Kansas City Wizards (Season 2) & Schalke 04 (Season 3). The league also has several exciting cup competions for all 12 active clubs. The current Divison One champions are Schalke 04, who are also the current Champions League holders.

The Under 23 league is run by Dave T and each club is affiliated with a club in Division's One & Two. However, the under 23 clubs are not allowed to particpate in any of the senior cup competions. During season three, the U-23 league decided to create the FA Cup which has a much lower profile than the other league cups. The Under 23 league does not allow players above the age of 23 to play in its league. When a player reaches that age, he shall be released into the free agent market or promoted into the senior team.

[edit] Expansion, contraction and relocation

After starting with 16 clubs, the league contracted to 12 clubs prior to season 2 . Prior to the start of Season 2, the top 6 clubs in Division One broke away from the D1 league and thus the bottom clubs were forced to create Division Two which began play during season 2.

Following the conclusion of the season 1, Liverpool FC were relocated to Manhattan, New York and renamed New York Metrostars. However, Liverpool FC's name and history were not transferred, with the possibility of an expansion club returning to Liverpool some time in the future. Other clubs to relocate included Los Angeles Aztecs relocating to Schalke 04 and Juventus FC relocating to Suwon Blue Wings.

Tony Armer added Sparta Prague for season 4. It is unknown yet what division if any this club will be placed in.
