Talk:Garter

I say, chaps, shouldn't this be moved to "Garter"? Isn't that the Wikipedia way? --64.25.14.157 21:51, 2 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Well, no, not really, since garter is a disambiguation page. --Rcsheets 07:19, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

The connection from Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (ca. 1400) to the Order of the Garter (ca. 1348) is impossible. (wrote User: John W. Kennedy)

Not at all. It seems entirely reasonable to me (an admitted novice in such matters) that the (putative) origins of the Order of the Garter could not be explained in verse until the Order was in fact established. Same way the New Testament couldn't begin to be written until after 1 AD. Makes perfect sense. --Quuxplusone 23:35, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
The explanation of the Order's roots, however, is not the explanation given in the Order of the Garter's article, and despite several possible origins being given, Sir Gawain isn't even mentioned. Reveilled 15:36, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

it is true about the chicago connection
