Given that at least a few members involved with their trip to Lebanon in November 2005 chose to meet with a key leader of the Hizzbullah, coupled with the fact that this is not a neutral page, I would have to say this project should not be a part of this venture. (1/29/07)

The title of this article has to be changed to become "Garden of Forgiveness" with a capital 'F'.

Done
I think that "the realization that forgiveness perhaps represents our only way out" still needs to be changed to "the belief that . . ."

== Headline text ==Italic text The neutrality of the statement above can be seen in the word "perhaps" I disagree that this is not neutral.

I have restored some links to other Wikipedia entries that were in previous versions (eg Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain) and added some new ones (eg Solidere).

Thank you for restoring links to this page.

[edit] NPOV

There is an NPOV problem because as it stands the article states the views of the creators or promoters of the Garden of Forgiveness without qualification: eg "the realization that forgiveness perhaps represents our only way out" ("realization" should be "belief" or "view"); "following a vision she had in 1997" (it should not be stated as a fact that she had such a "vision"); "She came to realize" (again, "believe"); "Ultimately, peace is the goal reached through the process of forgiveness" ("The Garden expresses the belief that ultimately . . ."); "The Garden reminds us that to heal we must all do the challenging work of considering difficult processes like forgiveness."

The following passage needs an NPOV revision: "The Garden reminds us that to heal we must all do the challenging work of considering difficult processes like forgiveness. Forgiveness is much like a bridge surmounting acts of violence when it is crossed completely to the other side. For most, contemplating the idea of forgiveness often seems impossible. Yet, its power to transform violence and hatred into peace and healing is what makes this Garden of Forgiveness in Beirut a beacon for hope touching the world. Therefore, forgiveness as a concept forwards the process of healing, closure and peace in the heart of Beirut, Lebanon and could do likewise at Ground Zero."

I am not disagreeing with any of the statements indicated above, just indicating that they are not NPOV - particularly as regards the value of this particular project ("its power to transform violence and hatred into peace and healing", "a beacon for hope touching the world", "forgiveness as a concept forwards the process of healing, closure and peace in the heart of Beirut, Lebanon and could do likewise at Ground Zero".) Also, the following line in #9 needs to be changed "with commitments to build forgiveness gardens in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York at Ground Zero" until formal plans to build said gardens have been formalized. (e.g., A call to the WTC Memorial Foundation, the organization in charge of building any memorial at Ground Zero, revealed that they have not heard of this group.)

How does this affect the neutrality of the article? The NPOV tag should be removed.

See Wikipedia:Verifiability for information on the need to state verifiable facts. #9 and #11 of this article appear to contain items that are more opinion or intentions to create a specific project rather than verifiable facts. Also, while there is verifiable information regarding a proposed gargen in Poughkeepsie, cannot find any published documentation which verifies that a formal proposal to build a garden in New York, Chicago or Los Angeles has been approved.
Unless #10 can be substantiated with factual information, it appears to be an opinion piece and should probably be deleted from an encyclopedia entry.

I agree with the above post and would add that #9 should be deleted as well because the facts cannot be verified.

In reading through this discussion, clearly more than one person is in disagreement with the contents of statements #8-10. These three items appear to state more the wishes of a nonprofit rather than verifiable facts. Perhaps if these three items were removed then the NPOV tag could be removed as well.

I agree - I did an independent web search and there are numerous places where this organization makes claims to journalists and filmmakers that they are building a Garden of Forgiveness at Ground Zero, a claim refuted by the WTC Memorial Foundation. This entire entry reads more like a press release than verifiable facts. (11-7-06)
