GardenValerian.jpg (300 × 400 pixel, file size: 30 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
Garden Valerian growing on waste land near Bernal Heights Park, San Francisco.
Reduced from a photograph taken on 8th May 2004 by Stephen Lea; identification from knowledge of the plant as a garden species.
This image is NOT Valeriana. It is "Redspur Valerian" which is in the genus Centranthus. It is in the same family, but is not Valerian. WormRunner | Talk 21:54, 26 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll check through on uses of the picture seglea 18:55, 28 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- OK - it is Red Valerian, Spur Valerian, Red-spur Valerian, or any one of a dozen other common names, Centranthus ruber. I have now used the picture, correctly captioned, on the family page. Pity it's such a pain changing an image name. seglea 19:15, 28 Jun 2004 (UTC)
