[edit] Pre V8 Supercar Era
Garry Rogers Motorsport started out as a small privateer team in the late 70's running a Holden Torana. After a few seasons, the team disbanded in the early 80s and re-emerged in the late 80's running a Commodore.
[edit] V8 Supercar Series
In 1996, GRM focused to join the V8 Supercar Series originally with Steven Richards, but due to testing in the BTCC, he was replaced by Jason Bright. In 1997, Western Australian driver Garth Tander and Melbourne driver Jason Bargwanna, having success winning the Bathurst 1000 in 2000. Jason left at the end of the 2002 season and was replaced by youngster Jamie Whincup but was sacked at the end of the 2003 season. He was replaced by Cameron McConville. At the end of the 2004 season, Tander left to replace Greg Murphy at the then called team Kmart Racing (Toll HSV Dealer Team). Andrew Jones joined the team but was sacked after the Bathurst 1000 even though he claimed 4th with McConville. He was replaced by Dean Canto and he joined the team for the 2006 season. As Mconville left for Supercheap Auto Racing, he was replaced by Lee Holdsworth. The 2006 season has been a relatively quiet season, with only one race win at Western Australia.
[edit] 2007 Season
Dean Canto and Lee Holdsworth will continue driving with GRM for the 2007 season. Dean will debut the team's first VE Commodore chassis, while Holdsworth will continue to use the older VZ Commodore until his new VE comes online later in the season, possibly at the Winton round. Lee is joined this year by a new engineer in James Small. Small has previously raced in national Formula Ford and has his Bachelor in Engineering (Mechanical).
The team has also debuted an exciting new look for the 2007 season, with a new livery thats goes away from their traditional blue/white/red colours. The new paint scheme is a very striking silver and black livery, but still with continued support from Valvoline and Cummins. Although they have lost Repco as a major sponsor.
