Garrett K. Gomez

Garrett K. Gomez (born January 1, 1972 in Tucson, Arizona) is an American thoroughbred jockey.

He began his racing career in 1988, and in 1989 was the second leading apprentice jockey in the nation. He spends most of his time riding the Southern California Circuit, Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, and Del Mar. He first came out on top of the Jockey's Standings at the 1998 Hollywood Park Fall Meet. He entered drug rehab in 2003 for substance abuse problems. He returned to racing 21 months later in full force.

Gomez has won the Pacific Classic Stakes three times, in 2001, 2002, and 2005. Gomez has two Breeders Cup wins, both in 2005. In 2005, he ended the year with $13,889,511, good enough for fifth in the Jockey Standings. In 2006, he led all riders in money earned at $21,922,592. He is the current leading rider at Santa Anita.
