Garden Home Community Library

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Garden Home Community Library (GHCL) is a public library located in the unincorporated Washington county area of Garden Home-Whitford, Oregon. A current Washington County library card is all that is needed to check out materials from the Garden Home Community Library.

The association was founded in 1983 and incorporated on March 30, 1994. GHCL became a member of the Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS, OCLC code: OQX) in July 1996 and has since provided public library service with proportional county fundings based on circulation and patron usage at the library. Along with Cedar Mill Community Library (CML), Oregon College of Art and Craft Library (OCAC) and Tuality Health Information Center (THC), GHL is one of four libraries in the WCCLS system that are not operated by a government.

Current president of the Library Board is Bob Goetz. The current Library Director is Cooky Abrams. Garden Home Community Library also has a full-time, Youth Librarian, Gwen Sangster. Past library directors were Linda V. Malone, Karen McClendon, Barbara Micheel.

The library is located inside the Garden Home Recreation Center, a facility managed by Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation. A long-awaited library expansion and renovation were completed on February 15, 2004, doubling its square footage.
