Gansito (Spanish "little goose"), is a Mexican snack cake similar to Twinkies, with the exception that it has strawberry jelly along with the creamy filling and is covered in chocolate with tiny "topping" chocolate sprinkles. It was created in 1956 by Marinela (the "sweet" part of the breadmaking Bimbo Group) This specific snack cake is heavily marketed, possibly more than any other of Bimbo's products which include white and wheat bread, cereal bars, pound cakes and several other cakes, various pastries, cookies, and wafers. In a study[1], the Gansito namebrand and "cute-looking goose" was remembered by 92% of a children's study group, whereas only 19% can recall the most basic Mexican history dates. This case of heavy publicity is also seen in the company's website (Marinela.com.mx), where you will find cute cartoon characters and animations, however you will not find the nutrition facts nor history behind their products. Each one of these delicious Gansitos of under 1.8 oz packs 200 calories, 8 grams of fat of which 8 grams are saturated fat, and less of 9 percent of any vitamin, though it's marketed as being vitamin enriched.

The "little goose" has undergone major revamping over his fifty years, from a university graduate, to a cold weather dressed goose, to a 5 year old kid looking cute goose, and now a teenager goose with jeans and t-shirt. Always showing vitality and happiness and walking, jumping or skipping somewhere.

On the American version of the wrapper in this snack cake there is a website address Marlinelausa.com.
