Gangs of London Gangs of London is a 2006 video game developed by Team SOHO and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released for Sony's PlayStation Portable. Despite having the same developers and setting as The Getaway series, it has nothing in common story-wise with the said series.
The player has the choice to play as 5 different gangs in London, all with different ethnicites and colors. These are the Chinese Water Dragon Triads (red), the Russian Zakharov Organization (green), the Pakistani Talwar Brothers (purple), the Cockney Morris Kane Firm (orange), and the Yardie EC2 Crew (yellow). There is also the Andy Steele Associates (blue), who exist as a non-playable gang.
The game is set in 1995 after a huge gang war between all the gangs back in 1989. All gangs left to America in 1989 but returned in 1995 to do new wars.
As well as the story mode, there are also mini-games under the "Free-Roaming" heading, including "Free Drive" (medals are awarded if player approaches "hidden" characters who hold large flags on the street), "London Tourist" (player, who appears as a French tourist, has to take pictures of various landmarks in London), "Cause Havoc" (player, a gang member with various weapons, has to earn points by killing pedestrians and blowing up vehicles), "Speed Trap" (player has to drive at a certain speed to prevent a bomb inside the vehicle from exploding), "Riot Control" (player, as a London police officer, has to "neutralise" (kill or handcuff) rioters on the street), "Get Away" (player has to survive from police pursuit for a certain time), "Four Weeks Later" (player has to defend himself or his gang boss from zombies rising from the ground) and "The Knowledge" (taxi driver mission).
While playing in the Story Mode, the player will find some other London based gangs, such as:
- Japanese Yakuza; - the Mafia; - Vulaj gang (Albanian); - Turkish mob: - Rahman gang (Indian); - Prostitutes gang (English); Blast more underworld characters, not directly connected with any gang.
The game was met with mixed, generally negative reviews, with a 55% at Game Rankings [1] and a 0% "Fresh" rating at Rotten Tomatoes [2]
