Gangbuster bill

The Gangbuster bill was known as "The Gang Deterrence and Community Protection Act of 2005". The Gangbuster bill was to give federal prosecutors new tools to bring down networks of gang activity and their organizations. The House of Resolution 1279 passed 279-144 with bipartisan support, which was intented for the increase concern of the estimated number 25,000 gangs, with 750,000 members nationwide.
The Legislation,now in the Senate Judiciary Committee, had made it 10 years to life sentences to life for gangs-related crimes. The federal death penalty for gang members, allows 16 and 17 year old gang members to tried as adults. Congressman J. Randy Forbes said this act "authorizes increased federal funding to support federal, state, and local law enforcement efforst against violent gangs". Congressman Forbes also said this act would criminal prosecution and propose voilent crime reforms to effectively proscute gang members. Congressman Forbes answer's the question why is this necessary? According to the U.S. Justice Department there are over 25,000 gangs with 750,000 members who are active in the justice system. Gangs have been directly linked to narcotics, humam trafficking, assault, etc.
Purposes
The Gang Deterrence and Community Protection Act of 2005 is a bill aimed to create national strategy to proscute gangs across the nation.
Goal 1 Designates "High Intensity Gang Areas"and authorizes funds to combat gang activity in those areas and of need.
Goal 2 Defines Gang crime in federal code and specifies punishments for gang-releated crimes and other violent crimes
