[edit] Picky Detail about Proposed Deletions

Hi, Gamesmasterg9 I noticed that you put some prod code on a couple of articles, but it didn't get a date stamp. I'm not sure what was up with that. I added dates, so the five days just started. It's not a big deal, but it slows down the process. With prod, the five days starts right away. For more info, check out Proposed Deletion. Hey, in other news, I'm a Northwestern grad, too. Cool.

[edit] Amrita Rao

Hello, Gamesmasterg9, I noticed your contributions to Amrita Rao's article. Why did you remove the links for her movies? Doesn't it make it easier for people to just see the movies and be able to click on them? Best regards, --Plumcouch 20:05, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] whoops -- sorry

Hello, Gamesmasterg9, totally my mistake. You're absolutely right and I apologize. It's late here - chalk it up on not enough sleep. Best regards, and sorry again, --Plumcouch 20:09, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pictures

Hallo, Gamesmasterg9. Generally, when I look out for pictures, I choose the newest movie an actor/an actress has made (because new movies have generally lots of pics on the net). If it is an Indian actress, I go over to Indiafm.com, Glamsham, Radiosargam or IndiaGlitz (for Tollywood/Telugu etc.) and see, if they have wallpapers or stills of that movie. However, there's a difference between officially released wallpaper and home-made stuff from the websites. The first wallies to appear on the net are usually those released by the production company of the movie - homemade wps are released later and normally don't look as professional as the production company's ones - however the websites are improving, so it's difficult to tell the difference in some cases.

I choose one where you can see the face of the actor/actres, crop it if necessary and improve satuaration and stuff. Then, I try to find via IMdb or Google what the Production Company and/or the copyright holder/distributor is and add everything into a fair use rationale (generally, I use something like this [1] as a fair use rationale). Then, I upload everything, choose an approriate tag (like promo, poster, still or something) and voilá, done. User:Yamla has a very sharp eye on copyright violations and since he almost never complained, I think this way works quite well. When in doubt, I visit articles which have reached featured status like Lindsay Lohan and look for their pictures and fair use rationales - those have to be correct, otherwise the article wouldn't have been featured. I hope this helps.

Best regards, --Plumcouch 14:55, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Samit Basu

Hi, I notaced that you added Samit Basu to the credits of the Virgin Comics 'Devi' article. I was wondering where you heard this - im interested to know, because ive been following the progress of those comics, and the addition of an Indian fantasy novellist would be cool. Thanks. Vastu 15:42, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey Vatsu,
Samit is a personal friend, so the information is straight from the horse's mouth, as it were. He has finished writing issue #3, and it should hit the stands in September. He tells me he's planning to change the tone of the comic completely.Gamesmaster G-9 18:48, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Thats really cool to hear. I was a bit worried after reading the first issue that the comic was superficially desi, (i.e. had Indian references), but underneath, lacked eastern styles and philosophy. When I saw the wiki saying Samit was going to be writing, I was very interested, and now im even more interested after you have mentioned that the comic will be taking a new direction. I think a fantasy novellist like Samit is the perfect addition to the project, and im really looking forward to the upcoming issues now.
I created the wiki article on the comics, and have been updating them every now and again. These comics could be to be to India, what manga is to Japan, and manga is one the most expressive and sophisticated mediums of storytelling that I know of. Thanks for the information, and give Samit my encouragement :-)

Hi, You said we could make a page similar to discword trilogy. I can't do that by myself and nobody else seems interested.-$@ur@BH-- 14:54, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wrong GM

for which i am much mortified :( My router tanked immediately after. Probably Wikinemesis. am now using a clunky laptop and a new router.

[edit] Hi

Just dropped in to say hi! I see you contribute generously in articles especially on bollywood actresses and also upload good photos. Are you from Calcutta Don Bosco, too?--Dwaipayan (talk) 12:22, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

I am 1999 HS (Barasat Govt High School). As you are a friend of Samit Basu, I thought you might be from Bosco. In fact, one of Samit's classfriends (Rajarshi Dutta) is my roommate in hostel. He also had a twin bro (Deborshi) in the same class. Also happen to know Pathikrit, Arya etc ( all from 1998 ISC). Happen to know?--Dwaipayan (talk) 13:56, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Magazine covers?

I thought scans of magazine covers, if the name of the magazine appeared in the image or the caption, was fine, and have been so advising people. I don't think we've had any complaints from magazines. What's the story?

If we can't use magazine covers, WHERE do we get pictures of Bollywood actors? Zora 23:03, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What's your say?

Hey thanks for updating Rani's page. It sounds much more professional. Thanks again. But don't you think her magazine qualified? Because I put it in personal life where she was supposedly having an affair with Govinda. I think you should put that magazine back and cover the story or find a new magazine picture for her because magazines tell a lot about the person in the article. shez15 19:33, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Amrita Rao Fansite

Hey thanks Gamesmasterg9 for re-enabling my link. I would definitely like to contribute to the main Article and do some modifications maybe in a day or 2. By the way I had also added the link to the German version of Wiki at http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amrita_Rao which was removed, I guess by the same person. I've made the changes there also. Thanks once again for your help.

[edit] User:Ikonoblast's edit-warring on Votebank

I have reported him for a WP:3RR violation on the article on

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/3RR

If you would like to comment on this situation and what seems to be his uncivil and derogatory tone towards you (and, more recently towards myself) in his edit summaries and talk page posts, then I would suggest leaving comments here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/3RR#User:Ikonoblast_reported_by_User:Hkelkar_.28Result:.29

Thank you and have a nice day.Hkelkar 10:54, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

He has been unblocked because he "promised to behave" (see his talk page). He has also done similar edit-warring on Lalu Prasad Yadav over the fact tat I put NPOV tag on a section because of a pending RfC on the article. He has promised to behave, so hope springs eternal...

21:02, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

I had promised to relax only. Ikon |no-blast 11:35, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
I assume good faith that both of you will behave yourself and the above commentary is not an open invitation to gamesmasterg by Hkelkar to join him in edit warring on Lalu Prasad Yadav.Take care. Ikon |no-blast 11:40, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Votebank

Regarding POV on CPM's "not practicing votebank politics".Time to restart the debate, and invite RfA in case of intransigence. I would appreciate it if you could get some sources.Hkelkar 02:11, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news again, but looks like Ikonoblast's at it again on Votebank. I'll be away for a few hours but would appreciate it if you could participate in debate with him (as hard as that may be) on the talk page Talk:Votebank

[edit] Fansites

Are you not aware of the new rule of WikiPedia's Bollywood editors? Fan sites for all the Indian stars are not allowed. Visit the WikiProject for the Indian cinema for more details.

[edit] Rani Mukerji

Hey, I love your edits! You're an amazing writer. I just needed one favor. If you could guard Rani Mukerji's page from Zora. She seems to cut down all the essence and only keeps a paragraph in the whole article. I don't know why she thinks everything written on that article is not encyclopedic. I'd really appreciate your help. I've worked three months on that article to make it what it is today. Pa_7 and other editors have helped me make it possible. When you improved the grammar, the article was a winner itself. You really did a great job. Keep it up. And if you can add other references and other things, that will be nice too. Just keep Zora from cutting everything. Thanks! -- shez15 19:33, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User:Ikonoblast again

He was blocked for his usual edit-warring on votebank. He's back and has made additional personal attacks against me by putting bogus vandalism tags in my talk page. I suggest you contribute to the discussion going on at

Talk:William M. Connolley regarding this issue (he's the admin who blocked ikonoblast). The discussion is here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:William_M._Connolley#Regarding_Dozy_admins

I have requested that you be involved in any mediation matters regarding the votebank article. Thanks.Hkelkar 12:24, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Gamesmasterg , even though we have differences in editing which is part and parcel of wikipedia I appreciate you not joining Hkelkar and co. and you will not proove me wrong in future either.I do have differences with admins and you too but this is not the way to proceed as proposed by Hkelkar (treat this as advice). Ikon |no-blast 12:36, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Can you defend it????

You have made this edit on Lalu Prasad Yadav. You must quote good source to back it.Using words like "Known criminal" violates WP:BLP. Ikon |no-blast 09:13, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Since you oferred no argument I have changed the heading to old one . But if you still want to pursue it ,you should have a good source to back it.Good day  Ikon |no-blast 09:03, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ikonoblast is back

He's messing about with Lalu Prasad Yadav again. Might want to take a look. Plus, he's been bothering Admin William Connelly (see ikonoblast's contribs page for details).Shall we file a joint RfA on him? We can do that if you want.Hkelkar 10:53, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

I say both of you go through this adventure too. Ikon |no-blast 13:01, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ikonoblast was blocked

And has been making allegations against you in his talk page. I suggest you contribute as the discussion is getting one-sided and admins might get the wrong idea unless you say your side. Thanks.Hkelkar 12:58, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding Votebank

After going through your comment on my talk page , I feel you have some misconceptions about me (although it is violation of AGF, I don't want to pursue it).You must discuss the matter on article's talk page and refrain from edit warring and agressive editing.  Ikon |no-blast 11:26, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

Hello, I was discussing this issue with Plumcoach and he referred me to you. :) I recently added to 2 external links to the Vidya Balan page. One to IndiaFM's page on Vidya and a fansite (http://fansites.hollywood.com/~vidya). However the fansite link I added was changed to another site (vidya-balan.com). Is there a problem?

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for your help in getting the article on Riya Sen, and also thanks for everything I learned from your edits (there are quite a few). But, I still think the laguage links are relevant, since it is being stated that she works in may different languages. And, I hope you reconsider the infobox image, and replace it with a better one. I am trying to find a better image as well (of course it has to be relevant and as free as possible). And finally, would you take a look at another of my contributions - Ganguly Family Connection. Please, check the image on Moonmoon Sen's article as well (it was not uploaded by me though). - Aditya Kabir 05:52, 19 October 2006 (UTC) - please, reply on my talk page

Thanks again. - Aditya Kabir 11:47, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Can you help me to move the category "Ganguly Family Connection" to the category "Ganguly Family" or "Ganguly Family (films)" - like it is with the Kapoor Family - as well? - Aditya Kabir 12:38, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Advise, please

I have posted some questions and comments on Riya Sen talk page. I need your advise. - Aditya Kabir 08:22, 4 November 2006 (UTC) - please, reply on my talk page

[edit] User:ikonoblast is back!!!

He seemed to have disappeared for a while thank g-d but he's back to revert-warring on votebank. Just thought I should drop you a note.Hkelkar 08:03, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Also, there is an arbitration case against me going on. Ikonoblast is an "involved party", no doubt he will engage in his usual malicious mud-slinging there. If you don;t mind, I would like to list you as an involved party and would like you to tell the admins there of our problems with his vandalism and tendentious editing on votebank. The RfA is:

An Arbitration case involving you has been opened: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Hkelkar. Please add any evidence you may wish the arbitrators to consider to the evidence sub-page, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Hkelkar/Evidence. [edit] St. Xavier's High School Loyola Hall

I have reverted your redirect. The 2 schools are different. - Aksi_great (talk) 13:48, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes. I am sure about that. I live in Ahmedabad and studied in one of the schools. There are many schools named St. Xavier's in Gujarat. There is St. Xavier's Loyola, Mirzapur, Gandhinagar, Surat and Bhuj. All of them were founded by the same institution - Society of Jesus and have the same logo, uniform and other rules. The Mirzapur article has been copied nearly verbatim by someone from the Loyola article (the latter article was my first article on wikipedia). But as the information is correct, I don't think there is any need to remove information from the Mirzapur article. - Aksi_great (talk) 18:31, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

She's adha-Tripuri and adha-Bangla. Tripuris (especially of royal birth like Riya sen) use Bengali. See Script issues of Kokborok. Bengali is the only script needed for her bio.Bakaman Bakatalk 01:33, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Riya Sen

Why do you insist on putting up measurements (even though there is NO guarantee that they're correct) and making references to love affairs and scandals? The former is offensive to women, and the latter is against the WP:BLP policy. I will raise the model infobox issue at the Village Pump (policy), but for the latter, it would be sufficient to complain to an admin. I don't WANT to do that, since you've otherwise been doing good work, but prurient gossip is just not what we do. Zora 09:19, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Vernacular scripts

I don't see much consensus on removal or use of scripts, but I think we can at least have some consensus on issues such as order of scripts -- it can avoid stupid edit wars (see history of Belgaum for example). If there is no clear consensus on the order of scripts, we can go for a straw poll. utcursch | talk 11:18, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
