[edit] Plot
Its raining outside and Ben is playing the video game, Sumo Slammer Smackdown, while Gwen is looking out the window, bored. She comments to Ben how the game Ben is playing looks fun, so she asks to play. At first, Ben is reluctant, but finally decides to give in. After a few games of winning and gloating from Gwen, he and Gwen get in a big fight that gets Grandpa Max depressed. Ben decides to go Upgrade and merges with the game, making Gwens high score go down. Just then a lightning bolt hits the satellite on the RV and sucks Ben and Gwen in the game.
Ben and Gwen appear in the Game as Upgrade and a Sumo Slammer version of Gwen. All of a sudden, a giant ship shoots down robo sumos down to Ben and Gwen. Ben, still as Upgrade, makes short work of some robots, with Gwen backing him up of course. But the Omnitrix times up just as a boss enters the scene. Ben manages to get some weapons for him and Gwen, cutting his way in some others robots, but gets owned by the boss, however Gwen saves him. As they are fighting Ben is crushed by a massive object only to reappear again. Gwen states that this was his second life (from when they were playing) and if this happens again they're done for. After they manage to find their way to the second level, they again encounter heavy resistance, but Ben manages to get a Fourarms token and again gets the ability to use the alien form. After the transformation he encounters the game hero, Ishiyama who mistakes him for his own archnemesis, Kenko.
Gwen however set things straight, after she realizes that the sumo is intrigued by her fighting abilities. They go together to the Upgrade token (which will allow Ben to get them out of the game world) via a shortcut, they again encounter resistance and is here where they first face Kenko. He also sets to find the Upgrade token leaving them to face his minions.Ben finds a Cannonbolt token and, as Cannonbolt, makes short work of the minions. In real world Max wakes up and pauses the game with the intent of ending it. He finds out of what happened and agrees to help them get out. When they arrive at the final destination they meet up with Kenko, and while Gwen and Ishiyama, start a fight with him, Ben searches the Upgrade token, as he finds it Kenko gets an upperhand in fight and destroys Ishiyama only to be defeated by Ben in Upgrade mode. As Ishiyama comes back to congratulate Ben, Max enters the game as one of the characters and exposes him as a disguise of Kenko. They again fight, and destroy him, exposing a little man that was fighting in a suit. Ishiyama appears this time impressed by Max's skills and wishes them the best of luck as they return to the real world.Max waits until they leave and plays the game.
[edit] Notes
- When in the game, Ben's forms were given Armor fitting the games style and Ben's appearance therein, referencing the Omnitrix's ability to modify the users clothes to fit the alien forms. Also, the omnitrix changes appearance while in the game, as does the location of it's symbol on the alien's body/clothes.
- When Upgrade upgrades the sumo robot with the flags on it when they first enter the video game, the flags change to show the Omnitrix symbol.
[edit] Goofs
- At one point in the show, when Grandpa comes to shut off the gaming system the windows of the Rustbucket show clear skies; when the scene goes back to him its back to raining.
[edit] Aliens Used in This Episode
