Gambrills, Maryland
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gambrills is an unincorporated town in Anne Arundel County, Maryland with a population of 7,159 as recorded in the last census in 2000.
Gambrills' claim to fame is the U.S. Naval Academy Dairy Farm, a local highlight ranking right on up there with the post-office and family-owned feed store. By Dairy Farm Road, there is also an impressive corn maze that spans 11 acres. The paths wind around for three miles.
In the past decade, the farm was leased to Horizon Organic who used it as a “farm and education center” until they couldn’t afford the upkeep any more. Horizon is gone, the feed store is still there.
Gambrills is much more than just a post office and feed store. Gambrills is home to one of the largest and most acclaimed Day Spas and Salons in the Eastern United States- Robert Andrew, the affaimed Waugh Chapel center, which also contains fine shopping a dining, medical facilities, and a senior condominium community. Soon there will be a Wegeman's Grocery Store as well. The Gambrills area is very prestigious with an average annual income of $80,000+ in the surrounding 5 mile radius. Gambrills is less than 20 mils from Baltimore, Washington, and Annapolis, making it a perfect area to live, work, and play.
Pitcher Denny Neagle was born here.
