[edit] General Description of Game
Barbie: Game Girl is a girl-oriented Game Boy game released in 1992. The game's title screen presents background music similar to an instrumental version of an early 1990s pop music tune. Unlike most Barbie games, this game is a standard platform game rather than a simulation of the life of a female fashion model.
[edit] In-game Levels
The game environment features a shopping mall level, an underwater level reminiscent of Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid, and other unusual worlds to explore. The game is extremely linear, and is also centered around collecting gems and pearls to fend off opponents.
[edit] Player and Parental Advisory
The game was recommended for children ages three and over; 21st century players might play with bubblegum music in their CD players to drown out their "mother's music."
[edit] Contest
A contest application that came with each copy of Barbie: Game Girl offered the winner a special Barbie belt bag.
