Gallant Bloom Handicap

The Gallant Bloom Handicap is a race for thoroughbred horses open to fillies and mares age three and up, and is run each fall at Belmont Park on Long Island, New York for a purse of $150,000. A Grade II event, it is set at a distance of six and a half furlongs on the dirt.
Gallant Bloom won the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Two-Year-Old Filly champion of 1968. The first time this race was run it was set at the distance of six furlongs in 1994, but changed to 6 1/2 furlongs in 1995.
