Galaxy in Flames is a Science Fiction novel by Ben Counter based in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, published by the Black Library. This is the third book of the Horus Heresy series, which began with Horus Rising and continued in False Gods. The story is set 10,000 years before the timeframe of the Warhammer 40,000 setting, and expands upon the tale of the Horus Heresy, the galaxy's greatest civil war and the root cause of many issues in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Galaxy in Flames details the virus-bombing of Istvaan III and Warmaster Horus' ultimate fall into madness, where brother fights brother in a virus-choked wasteland of death and destruction. Loyalist elements of the Luna Wolves, World Eaters and Emperor's Children legions fight against the traitors... and Horus makes the ultimate decision that will lead to a bloody massacre before the endgame on Terra.
