Gala Rizzatto

Gala Rizzatto (born September 6, 1975 - that information is not true, but as it was the first and only released to the public by one of her polish fans on the website http://yaron.fm.interia.pl/gala/ so it became the real thing), is an Italian singer/songwriter

Rizzatto was born in Milan.

She who scored one of her biggest hits in the 1990s with "Freed from Desire". The song was a smash hit across Europe, and was followed by other singles which didn't make such a big impact but were nonetheless successful. After a long pause in her career, she has recently released a new single, "Faraway", which was first released in France to little attention yet made the top ten in Greece. According to her, the reason for this unexpected comeback was that she discovered a web page where her fans were signing a petition for her to come back. She was so moved she decided to go to the studio once again. Currently, Rizzatto lives in Brooklyn where the video for "Faraway" was shot as well.

Her later single, "Faraway", covered in the Greek language by Tamta Goduadze, a Georgian singer, with a great local success (reaching the summit despite Gala's own earlier triumph).

Gala Rizzatto has a distinct dark voice she once defined as close to speech. Her lyrics deal with different subjects, (personal evolution from childhood to adulthood, materialism, gender roles, social rights, having the courage to be oneself), in a philosophical way. In an interview she commented how much dumb dance lyrics annoyed her, so she writes lyrics which make the listener think, not only dance.

Besides her singing career, Rizzatto has also worked as a flamenco & modern dancer, photographer, video director. She also followed closely the artwork for her records, because in her opinion "everything has a meaning".
