Float around until you find something that tickles your fancy. One easy way to do this is to hit the random page button in the navigation bar to the left. Additionally, the Community Portal offers a more structured way to become acquainted with the many great committees and groups that focus on specific tasks. My personal favorite stomping grounds are Wikipedia:Translation into English as well as the cleanup, welcoming, and counter-vandalism committees. Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has several other wiki projects that you might enjoy. If you have any more questions, always feel free to ask me anything on my talk page. Nice work so far in the Peruvian 2006 Election page. I'll be contributing to it soon enough. Also, if you are interested in Peru-related articles you should check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Peru where we work on such articles. All you have to do to join is add your name to the list of participants if you are interested. Also, you should make a user page since it would give you better credibility (people see red links and automatically think possible anon new user not knowing what he is doing or vandal) and it would make you easier to contact (I for instance had to type in your user talk page to contact you). Anyway, thanks and bye.--Jersey Devil 07:43, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
Damn, nice work on the page!--Jersey Devil 19:19, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome pt. dos
Hey Gabbec! Thanks for joining the Project Peru. I hope you can help sort any misrepresentations on the page and help expand other parts.
If you would like to talk more to me, and collaberate or discuss some things about Peru or the spanish language, please add a comment to my talk page. I welcome any discussion. Pvt Mahoney 23:31, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your welcome, hopefully we can do some good work on the Project. --Gabbec 01:13, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Peruvian elections
You really seem to be on the up-and-up concerning the elections in Peru. Thanks for doing such a great job on that article. I wonder if you know where I could find the election results for Huancayo. One of the main candidates for governor there is my friend's father, and I am very interested in finding out if he won. If one of the pages that you look at might be of any assistance to me, I'd appreciate it if you let me know. Thanks. --Descendall 02:00, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment. Well, I guess he is running for Congress, there are no governor elections today. Huancayo is in the Electoral District of Junín, and so far I've only heard presidential estimates from there (Humala first at 43%). I'll let you know if I know anything else. What's his name and party? --Gabbec 02:05, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and thanks for your contributions to the article as well, any help is appreciated.--Gabbec 18:06, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I meant congress. Sorry. Anyway, thank you very much for the information. It was Edgard Reymundo whose daughter I know. Funny to see myself two degrees away from the Peruvian congrees. --Descendall 10:13, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

I know you are pretty busy with work on the 2006 election page but you should also know that the May Wikiproject Peru collaboration has just started for Peruvian Army. If you are not to busy you should check it out.--Jersey Devil 16:28, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Peruvian Congress?
How is the outcome of the Congressional side of the election coming out? I am thinking about starting to work on that side of the Peruvian elections aside from the Presidential race.--Jersey Devil 03:12, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- As far as I know, the count is beyond 99.9% complete. I was waiting for the full results before updating the article, but the results in terms of seats and elected congressmen are probably unchangeable at ths point. This gives a good breakup of the results. You're more than welcome to develop the article in that respect, it's certainly lacking there. Let me know if you need any help. --Gabbec 03:23, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
The Peruvian Barnstar of National Merit | ||
I, Jersey Devil award you with this Peruvian barnstar of national merit for your countless work on Peruvian-related articles, in particular in celebration of the 2006 Peruvian election which is being held today and who's article would be little more than a stub without your valuable contributions. Thanks and keep up the good work!--Jersey Devil 22:27, 4 June 2006 (UTC) |

[edit] Peruvian Leftist Parties
Alright, I am getting some confusion about Alberto Moreno and exactly what "party" he represents. He is the general secretary of Patria Roja but also the President of the New Left Movement (MNI). The elections page says that he "ran" under the MNI but from here it says "El, candidato presidencial del Frente Amplio de Izquierda, Alberto Moreno Rojas..." [1] Of the Broad Left Front, which makes sense as he was running for the coalition not just the MNI (which gets me thinking that maybe we should change the party affiliation on the election page for Moreno). From my understanding the Broad Left Front is a coalition of leftist parties of which both Patria Roja and the MNI are members. The part that seems to have confused me though is this party template on the spanish wikipeda. [2] It lists the MNI as a "coalition" but isn't that wrong? I'm only interested because Humala just met with members of the MNI and Patria Roja causing some people to divert from the UPP. So their relevance in here could rise a bit and I don't want to have inaccuracies on their pages.--Jersey Devil 07:04, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- Just saw your edits to the 2006 Peruvian Election article. You are the fucking man.--Jersey Devil 06:36, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- Haha, thanks. Feel free to add more stuff, there were parts, like the 2nd round results, where I didn't now what more to add, and other parts still need to be cleaned up. Saludos, --Gabbec 06:41, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Can you maybe check out the flag in the Peru article? The Wikipedia Es es:Perú page uses the national flag without the seal (which pretty much all non-english wikis do\) but our page uses the flag with the seal. So I changed it to fit with the other wikis (even though obviously the seal flag is most often used) and it was reverted. Are they completely interchangable in these circumstances?--Jersey Devil 03:47, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Also, I noticed something that could be wrong in the Wiki Es. Check this out...es:Escudo del Perú...isn't it the other way around? And if you see the es:Peru page you can see the war seal used in place of the seal. The articles of es:Escudo de Armas del Perú and es:Escudo Nacional del Perú seemed to be named incorrectly...shouldn't they be the other way around.--Jersey Devil 03:55, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
According to Encyclopedia Britannica both are officially "national flags" and so they can be used interchangebly.--Jersey Devil 17:01, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Regarding Rebranding of championships
Please, do not forget to move all redirects as well to avoid double-redirects. Regards —Lesfer (talk/@) 20:37, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- I believe I got rid of all the double redirects. I guess some redirects should stay for references to the previous names. --Gabbec 21:56, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] HappyApple contact
Hello, i noticed you disagree to neutrality on Nicolas Lucar article. I think the previous version was neutral at all. But if you have problems with that i think i can accept your recent edits. However there is some information missing from the previous version that has been deleted after your edit because, here my impressions:
- "La revista dominical" -> "The sunday report" not "The sunday review", although there was not an official translation to the name of this show (not to mention that, it has never been aired on US, not even in CBS en español or Telemundo or Univision back in the 1990s), the most closest word on english to the work what Lucar did on that show is report rather than review, like other shows did back then, like Channel 2's Ayer y Hoy, that in fact was a review of the week.
- According to IBOPE Time Peru, the raitings company, simmilar to Nielsen Raitings in the US, Channel 9 or ATV has indeed a huge audience in the prime time slot, and in since the fall of 2005, the channel has gained more audience as a result of world cup pre-reports and Brazilian soap operas. I think on the article it should say, that at least, Nicolas Lucar returned to a highly watched channel.
- The public opinion has changed towards Nicolas Lucar over the years: In fact yes,if we see this as a result on the raitings. According to IBOPE TIME, his program nearly encompassed on the raiting to Jaime Bayly's show "El Francotirador" on its first broadcast.
- Many peruvians remember him as a devoted Journalist rather than a controversial figure, i can say yes to this sentence because, if you ask someone (in Peru) about what comes to his mind first when metion Nicolas Lucar, people will say about their "fancy" years at La revista dominical, rather than his other low budget and low quality shows like Tiempo nuevo, that were obviously backed by the infamous Montesinos.
- Bill Kurtis, why him?. Because he like Nicolas Lucar, Bill started his investigative journalism career as a spin of from their reports at the 10 o' clock news show on America Noticias. I am not sure if you had watched America TV news from 1985-1987, but on their 10 o' clock report, Nicolas was a consumer and even socialwork reporter like Bill Kurtis from WBBM-TV's in 1980s, Nicolas even worked alongside Cesar Hildebrant on his show "Vision" in mid 1980s. Although both (Nicolas and Bill) have a different background, a parallel can be made from their work and i think he is a good example to show readers this.
By the way sorry for a delay in response but, i had being studying to final term tests at Saint Mark's so i could'nt answer on time.--HappyApple 23:22, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hi over there, thank you for your assistance on Nicolas Lucar article, i just have changed the sentence, "The public opinion has changed towards Nicolas Lúcar over the years..." to your proposal "Peruvians are divided over Lúcar, regarding him as anything between an outstanding journalist and a controversial figure". I also agree with you that the word many is quite arbitrary and i have avoided to use it. I'm glad we could reached an accord on this article, cheers.
By the way perhaps i will need your assitance in future as you are a "certified physicist" ?. If you need help on chemistry feel free to ask me, anyways thanks. :) --HappyApple 23:57, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Peruvian Congressional Template
I just made this template. You might want to check it out and add to it. Here is the full list of Congress members. [3] --Jersey Devil 02:22, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- That OPNE website isn't working for me. I click the districts and nothing comes up. Know of any other websites that show the Congressmen by the "regions" they represnt?--Jersey Devil 01:29, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks alot, you do the Lima ones and I'll finish off the rest of the regions. If we both work at this we'll get it done much faster.--Jersey Devil 01:41, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Presidents of Peru
Please see the "Presidents of Peru" section at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Peru and share your opinion with the project.--Jersey Devil 02:45, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- I was going to send you an e-mail to do this but you don't seem to have one registered on this account. Anyway, I was going to ask you if you were interested in joining this discussion/political forum. I don't like to advertise around forums on here but I figured that we could probably use the "Off-Topic" section there to discuss improvements to the Wikiproject Peru (which because of it's format makes it much easier to communicate and I am usually online there). Anyway, its up to you. Later.--Jersey Devil 21:17, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
The off-topic section is titled "After Hours Bar". You still seem to be in the "validating" stage, so you may not be able to post. I'll ask for you to be approved quickly.--Jersey Devil 22:12, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, you've been validated.--Jersey Devil 23:33, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 2007 Gold Cup
Hi. I have not reverted anything but I noticed you changed the Qualification section. I think it should stay as the Qualifiers since that is the method by which the teams will eventually participate. Especially since this time there are no invites. Libro0 20:56, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] club world cup round 6 template
Hi, I saw the club world cup template and was wondering if you could help me in making a different template/bracket. If there's a tutorial on how to make brackets in wikipedia it would great if you gave the the link to it because I've been looking for it. But if not, can you please help me make a bracket. The Bracket would be: 4 stages; 1st stage- Group Stage= 4 groups of 4, 2nd stage- Super 8= 1 group of 8, 3rd stage- Semi-finals= 2 groups of 2, 4th stage- Final= 1 group of 2. It would look similar to this but the second round would be 1 group instead of two and of course it would be horizontal. I'm truly sorry to bother you but it would be great if you could help me out here. --Thugchildz
