Kerpel started learning to use technology as a creative tool and He was performing with La

Organizacion Negra for eight years and during that time he also worked on many other multimedia projects, like dance, video and film.

In 1993, when La Organizacion Negra dissolved, Pichon Baldinu and Diqui James, two of the members, formed a new group called De La

Guarda and asked Kerpel to continue working with them. Shortly thereafter, Gaby’s brother Anibal and his partner, Gustavo Santaolalla,

visited Buenos Aires and began working with De La Guarda on a CD, which was released by Island Records in 1995.

Santaolalla, who has been a force in Latin American music since the 1960s, also produced Carnabailito and has become an invaluable

mentor and sounding board to Kerpel.
