Gabriele Muccino

Gabriele Muccino (born May 20, 1967 in Rome, Italy) is a successful Italian director. Muccino gained success with films such as L'ultimo bacio and Ricordati di me. He is currently making a switch to directing Hollywood films after L'ultimo bacio won the Audience Award for World Cinema at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival bringing him to the attention of American film industry.
The Pursuit of Happyness, a biopic starring Will Smith, was filmed in San Francisco, California in 2005 and has recently been released. He is also in pre-production of a new film, A Little Game Without Consequence, starring Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz.
He is the older brother of actor Silvio Muccino, who often appears in Gabriele's films.
For the production of The Pursuit of Happyness, the crew built a façade of an underground train station at Duboce Park near the Castro District in San Francisco. Pedestrians, repeatedly thinking that they had the fortune of a new BART station in their neighborhood, tried to enter only to realize they were merely standing in a large hole in the ground.
