Gabor Kallai

Gábor Kállai, Hungarian chessplayer, International Grandmaster. His Elo-point on 1 January 2006 was 2504.

Greatest individual success: Rapid World Championship VII. place (Mazatlan, Mexico), 1988. In several Team Championship won gold medal: in Hungary with MTK-VM and with Miskolci SSC, in Switzerland with the team of Bern, in France with the team of Strasbourg. For the latest he is playing already for 15 years.

Chess book writers: he created 9 books, which were published on more languages. The „Basic Chess Openings” his most popular book; published in Hungarian, English, Italian, German and French. Since 2005 he has a chess column in the most popular Hungarian daily newspaper (Népszabadság); since 2006 has a TV-program on Hungarian SPORT1 TV (SAKKK!).

Trainer: 1983-1986: second of GM Ribli Zoltán; 1980-1994: one of the coaches of Zsuzsa Polgár; 2005: FIDE Senior Trainer; (highest trainer licence of FIDE);

2001 – 2005: Professional Director of the Hungarian Chess Federation; 2002: Coach of the Hungarian Selected Men Team in Bled finished on the second place; 2005- : PR Director of the Hungarian Chess Federation.
