From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Günther E. Maul (1909-1997) was a German ichthyologist and taxidermist in Portugal. Maul came to Madeira in the 1930s, and was the impetus for the construction of a large aquarium in Funchal.
He described at least one type of shark and has several species of fish named for him[citation needed], and was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Madeira in 1995.
