Gülse Birsel

Gülse Birsel (b. Istanbul, January 29, 1971) is a Turkish comedian, writer, scenarist and actress.
She attended Beyoğlu Anadolu Highschool and got a degree in economics Boğaziçi University. She started working for "Aktüel" magazine as a correspondent in her second year as an undergraduate.Finally, she graduated from Boğaziçi University as an economist and Aktüel magazine as an editor in 1994.She went to New York and studied for a bachelor's degree in cinema department of Columbia University.
She was first noticed through her articles in Turkish newspapers, titled "Metropol Manzaraları" (Views of a Metropolis, "Metropolis" is actually İstanbul), with her easily noticed funny touches of city problems. Later presented a comedy show named "G.A.G.". Currently she is the lead actress and scenarist of Turkish TV series named Avrupa Yakası.
Gülse Birsel currently has three books published: Gayet Ciddiyim(2003), Hala Ciddiyim (2004) and Yolculuk Nereye Hemşerim (2005), and she writes weekly for a Turkish newspaper called Sabah
