Gávea Investimentos

Gávea Investimentos is a Brazilian independent investment firm, founded in 2003 by Arminio Fraga, former head of the Central Bank of Brazil, and Ilan Goldfajn, his deputy secretary for economic policy while on the Central Bank of Brazil.

Gávea manages three hedge funds, including one Brazilian domestic fund, one illiquid strategies fund, and a number of managed accounts. The total amount managed is around US$2.3 billion.

The firm, based in Rio de Janeiro, has sixty employees. In 2004, the firm was joined by Amaury Bier, the former Brazilian representative to the World Bank in Washington. In June 2006, Ilan Goldfajn left the firm establishing Ciano Investimentos in December 2006.
