Future Software Limited, is now a part of Aricent, the communications software company, previously Flextronics Software Systems spun off from Flextronics International in September 2006.

Future Software, also known as FutureSoft and Futsoft, was a specialist software provider of Protocol Stacks, pre-integrated Solutions and Outsourcing Services for the communications and networking industry. They had their headquarters in Madras, India. They had offices of their subsidiary, Future Communication Software (FCS) in San Jose, US addressing the North American market, and London, UK addressing the European market. FCS had an office each in China and Denmark.

The company and its subsidiary was founded in 1985 and 1994 respectively by K V Ramani. It was acquired by Flextronics International Ltd. in 2004, becoming part of Flextronics Software Systems. But the legal name remained the same till 2006. It had more than 600 employees worldwide. The company had one of the lowest senior level attrition rates among Indian software companies, with employees who worked with it for up to 20 years [1][2], until the acquisition.

Future Software was assessed at People CMM Level 3 by KPMG in the year 2001, becoming the first communication software company in India to get this certification. It also got ISO 9001: 2000 and Software CMM Level 5 certifications.

Its customers over its period of existence included Controlware, DSC Communications, Hirschmann, Hughes Network Systems, LG Electronics, NCR, Samsung, Alcatel, Nortel, Nera and Thomson.

The shorter name Futuresoft had name clashes with few other software vendors working in different domains[3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. This used to give minor trouble to fresh job seekers. After the name change to Aricent in 2006, the company's website was modified to replace every occurrence of the text 'Future Software' with 'Aricent'.
