Future Kings of Spain

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Future Kings of Spain is an Irish rock band, from Dublin.

Their self-titled debut album was released in August 2003, and won the band a Meteor Music Award. The follow-up Nervousystem was due to be released in 2006 but was delayed by "scheduling constraints" at former record label Red Flag and will now be released this year. Word from the inside is that FKOS have, after a 14 month battle, finally managed to successfully and legally extricate themselves and from their agreement with their now ex-label. Guess Again, The first single, is due out March 30th, and was chosen by public vote from three contenders 'Disappear', 'Kick in the Teeth' and "Guess Again".myspace page.

[edit] Lineup

The line up on the debut album was Joey Wilson (vocals/guitar), Bryan McMahon (drummer) and bassist Anton Hegarty. Lead guitarist Karl Hussey has been added since the debut was released.

[edit] Sound

FKOS debut album contained a very guitar-based sound, with a heavy disonant tone on many of the songs, such as the first single 'Face I Know'. The mood ranged from angst ('A Place for Everything') to melancholy ('Simple Fact').

Their forthcoming album is very different sounding (according to those in the know).
