Fukushima (福島市; -shi) is the capital city of Fukushima Prefecture in the Tōhoku region of Japan.

It lies about 250 km north of Tokyo and 80 km south of Sendai . Although the city is located inland, the prefecture has several Pacific ports such as Onahama and Soma.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 290,866 and the density of 389.68 persons per km². The total area is 746.43 km².

The city was founded on April 1, 1907.
