Fuckparade 2006

The Fuckparade is a techno demonstration in Berlin. As of 2005 it has occurred every year since 1997, in July or August. It developed as reaction to the music restriction (exclusion of Gabber music) and commercialisation of Love Parade. Besides, it broached the issue of the techno club Bunker being closed. The most played styles of music in the Fuckparade are Gabber, Speedcore, Techno, Punk, and House.

[edit] Name

The name "Fuckparade" has nothing to do with the literal meaning, it's the short form of "Fuck the Loveparade".

Originally the "Fuckparade" was named "Hateparade" and should show the difference to the "Loveparade". But the name was interpreted by the media as violence-glamourising.

[edit] Aims

  • To prevent the commercialisation of culture, music and public space
  • To prevent the abuse of the right for demonstration and free speech by commercial events, especially the Loveparade
  • To regard subcultures by the government
  • Greater diversity of the media
  • Since 2001: free means of expression for demonstrations

[edit] History

[edit] 1997

The first Fuckparade demonstration had the name Hateparade and was held on the 12th June 1997. It started at the club Bunker and lead to the Alexanderplatz. There was loads of press coverage for this underground event, as the Loveparade had been the only symbol of techno so far. The name of this demonstration was misinterpreted by some media as "March of Hate"

[edit] 1998

The second demonstration changed the name from Hateparade to Fuckparade (short for "Fuck the Love Parade") because of the misinterpretation mentioned.

[edit] 2005

The Fuckparade 2005 was on August 6 in Berlin.
