Fucauma diamond mine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fucauma diamond mine is a diamond mine under construction in Angola. The mine is owned by a consortium of diamond mining companies, the two largest holders being Endiama with 40 percent ownership and Trans Hex with 35 % ownership.
Following sampling and drilling research completed in 2004, a pilot mine was built at Fucauma. Full scale mining is expected to commence in mid-2005, with capacity to handle up to 750,000 cubic meters of ore per year producing an estimated 120,000 carats (24 kg) annually.
Probable reserves are 849,000 cubic meters of ore at an ore grade of 20.0 carats per 100 cubic meters (40 mg/m³). There is a waste rock overburden of about 3.3 million cubic meters.
