[edit] Synopsis

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Haley needs an item to use in Show-And-Tell in order to compete with snobby girl Olivia Mears(Liliana Mumy), who frequenly shows off her cat. Rather than using Jake's diary, as she originally planned, Jake offers Fu Dog. At first he refuses to endure the extreme indignity of Haley's elementary school class, but then she tempts him with sloppy joes for lunch. As it turns out Olivia's cat "Miss Tinkles," is actually named Yan Yan(Tia Carrera), who's as old and magical as the Fu himself. But Fu Dog & Yan Yan are anything but friends, and it's not because he's a dog and she's a cat, but because they've had a centuries-long fight over a lucky coin that he originally inherited from his ancestors during the Ming Dynasty in 1424, which is where she first stole his coin. The second meeting was in 1793 after the French Revolution, where Fu Dog gets the coin back by cutting the necklace with a guillotine in the town square. The third meeting was during World War One in a dogfight over Germany in 1917(The Battle of Keilbergmelen), where Yan Yan swipes it away from him again as both parachute from crashing biplanes. And once again, they fight over the coin at Haley's school. Through the current fight they cause a great deal of chaos and destruction, and we learn that Fu Dog & Yan Yan are responsible for the Sphinx's nose jobs, the tilt in the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the sinking of the Titanic. Reluctantly, Fu Dog ends up using a bowl of the sloppy joe he was looking forward to as a weapon against her, and ends up swallowing the coin so that she can't touch it. Returning to class, Fu Dog manages to return to his cage, but Yan Yan doesn't, and the rest of the class sees her covered in sloppy joes. Olivia Mears is no longer allowed to bring "Miss Tinkles" to show-and-tell again, and Haley gets an A. Yan Yan vows to fight Fu again for the coin, and on the way home from school he reminds Haley to keep her promise to feed him sloppy joes "in order to move things along."
