[edit] About Frost
Frost made her first appearance in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance as an apprentice to Sub-Zero, taking the character archetype of the overly ambitious fledgling. Her dedication to fighting and learning is overshadowed by her arrogance and hostility towards anyone she perceives to be greater than her, including her own master, to which she refers to as sifu (a Cantonese term for a master or teacher), and Sonya.
Frost possess freezing abilities similar to that of Sub-Zero, albeit in a minor scale. Proof of this is in the both their abilities to form solid weapons by freezing surrounding water vapor: while Frost can create small daggers, Sub-Zero is capable of creating a sword.
[edit] Storyline
After Sub-Zero became Grand Master of the Lin Kuei clan, he held a tournament in order to recruit strong warriors. The victor was Frost, whose exceptional skills impressed him. Breaking Lin Kuei tradition, Sub-Zero took her as his protegé and trained her personally. With his assistance, her ability to focus her freezing power increased. However, as her skills grew, so did her arrogance. Sub-Zero was unable to teach her humility.
When Raiden requested Sub-Zero's assistance in defeating the Deadly Alliance, Frost's training was cut short. Sub-Zero brought her along with him for assistance, hoping at the same time she would attain perspective and enlightenment through the experience of actual battle. After meeting with the other Earthrealm warriors (one of which was Sonya, who did not get along with Frost), she accompanied Sub-Zero into Outworld. It is revealed in the MK Deadly Alliance Konquest mode, that Sonya had a brief fight with Frost in which Frost would had resulted as the loser hadn’t the fight been stopped by the other fellow warriors. It seems Sonya never trusted Frost and suspected of her intentions, asides from the fact that she despises the arrogance of the new Lin Kuei warrior.
Once there, her true intentions for joining the Lin Kuei became apparent. Desiring to become Grand Master of the clan herself, she immobilized Sub-Zero with a freezing blast and tore the Dragon Medallion (an artifact which enhanced Sub-Zero's abilities, as well as the symbol of Lin Kuei leadership) from his chest. Without the strength and discipline required to control the medallion's power, she was consumed by her own freezing ability, seemingly killing her.
Seemingly forgiving her for her betrayal, Sub-Zero searched for a suitable place to bury her remains. He discovered the ancient ruins of a holy structure erected by the long-lost race of Cryomancers. After careful study of the building, Sub-Zero came to believe that both he and Frost were their descendants and laid her body to rest in a sarcophagus before leaving.
However, during the events of Mortal Kombat: Deception, Frost awoke some time after Sub-Zero's departure, miraculously alive after all. Realizing she was still in Outworld and that Sub-Zero had left her for dead, she swore to make him pay.[1] Frost then returned to the Lin Kuei temple, hearing Sub-Zero was still in Outworld and hoping he's not killed there, as she wants that pleasure. Later, she enters a state of delirium, seeing Sub-Zero everywhere. Frost dispatches many Lin Kuei members while in this state until Sub-Zero returns. He deep freezes Frost into an ice coffin and place her in the chamber of the fallen Lin Kuei, sealing it later with an ice wall. Later, as the events of Armageddon begins, Taven revives her from her ice coffin, by shattering the ice down. Frost, still seeing Sub-Zero everywhere, attacks him, but gets defeated by Taven. After the fight, she realizes Taven is not Sub-Zero, and leaves the chamber to parts unknown.
In her Armageddon ending, after Frost defeats Blaze and becomes stronger, she once again takes Sub-Zero's medallion and becomes all powerful. She then takes the souls of her ancestors and places them into the current Lin Kuei warriors. With her enhanced army, she takes over the realms, leaving each one a frozen wasteland.[2]

[edit] Trivia
- Public reaction to Frost during the development of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance was extremely negative. Midway received letters detailing how Frost's existence was a horrible idea and that implementing her in the game would destroy the Mortal Kombat franchise. Despite this, she has become a favorite among the Mortal Kombat development team and many fans. [2]
- Along with Kenshi, Quan Chi, and Kitana, she is one of the few characters in Deadly Alliance to be seen performing a kata. She uses an especially energetic style for this, with several impressive jumps and kicks.
- In Deception's Konquest mode, the people of the Chaosrealm talk in backwards words. One of the phrases they say is along the lines of "Could Frost merely be hibernating?", hinting at a future return (she was deceased at the time of Deception, and has indeed returned in Unchained and Armageddon.)
- Frost was the first female character after Sonya who did not have overly revealing clothes, however her alternate costume has just as much exposed skin as the typical female character costume.
- Frost is the easiest character to be unlocked in Deadly Alliance. In Krypt IV, players can buy her for only 280 Ruby koins.
