User:Friday/admins blocking admins

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[edit] Concept

If an admin ever blocks another admin, both of them should be temporarily de-sysopped and the case should be reviewed by arbcom asap (look for 1-2 day turnaround if possible)

If the admin getting blocked is determined to have engaged in blockable behavior, his desysopping is ratified and becomes permanent (until adminship is granted again by some other process.)

If the admin doing the blocking is determined to have blocked improperly, his desysopping is likewise ratified.

Otherwise, the temporary desysoppings are temporary, and privileges are reinstated without prejudice.

[edit] Rationale

We should expect better behavior from admins, not tolerate worse. If one admin blocks another, it's quite likely that at least one of them was in the wrong. Admins are certainly allowed to make mistakes, but engaging in blockable behavior, or making a wrongful block, is no garden-variety mistake. This would also perhaps help drive home the notion that reaching for that block button should not be the first response to problematic behavior.
