It is widely believed that Don McLean's "American Pie" refers to this song with the line "'Cause fire is the devil's only friend", echoing the most memorable and distinctive line in "Friend of the Devil": "a friend of the devil is a friend of mine". -Removed. The line in American Pie of course refers to sympathy for the devil, the song the Rolling Stones were playing while a man was being beaten to death.
