Frizette Stakes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Frizette Stakes is a race for two-year-old fillies raced at Belmont Park in the fall. The Frizette is the female counterpart of the Champagne Stakes. Its date in October, its Grade I status, and its high $400,000 purse, make it a major prep race to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.

The Frizette was named for a splendid American racing filly who won the Rosedale Stakes in 1907.

Personal Ensign won this race in 1986, Princess Rooney in 1982, La Prevoyante in 1977, Shuvee in 1968, and Cicada in 1961.
