Friern Barnet Secondary School (FBS) is situated within the dead-end road of Hemington Avenue, Friern Barnet, London. The school is located only minutes away from the former Friern Barnet Town Hall (now converted into flats). It is a mixed comprehensive school with 750 students split across 5 years. Within each year there are 6 forms with an average of 25 pupils per form.

In recent years, the school has undergone a major transformation with the construction of a new technology, sports and drama department. In addition, during the period of 2000 - 2003, the school applied for Art College status. In the last week of January 2004, the school was granted this status. Finally, the recent change in Head Teacher has seen a dramatic change in the running of the school. It is expected that more changes to the school are on the way over the next few years. In March 2007 the school was named the most improved secondary school in the Borough of Barnet. This was recognised my the Educational Governers of Barnet.

The school is known for its recent high successes and brilliant OFSTED inspections; the school is also known for its links with Woodhouse College and Barnet College which acts as a sixth form for those students wishing to move into higher education .
