Friendly Floyd

Friendly Floyd is a fictional character and traveling salesman from the Super Mario Adventures comic strip that was featured monthly in Nintendo Power magazine from January to December 1992 (Vols. 32-43). The strips were later combined and released as a graphic novel made available through the magazine.
Mario and Luigi first bumped into Friendly Floyd at the Yoshi Village where he had been attempting to sell items such as toothbrushes and lightbulbs to the Yoshis, which they had no use for. There he told Mario and Luigi that Bowser had kidnapped several of the villagers. Floyd explained that Yoshi was the Chairman of the Dino Chamber of Commerce and that Yoshi had gone out to rescue the kidnapped villagers, but Bowser sealed Yoshi in an egg. Mario tried to hire Floyd to act as their translator, as he seemed to fully understand the Yoshis' language, but he declined. Instead, he sold the brothers a "Yoshi Language Learner" and took off (the translator turned out to be fake).
Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Toad ran into him later trying to sell lipstick to a Piranha Plant. After Mario was kidnapped and the Princess escaped from the Koopalings, he showed Luigi a new miracle make-up kit that he claimed could "create a new you". Luigi decided to use it to disguise himself as Princess Toadstool and infiltrate the tower where Mario was being held. Floyd was later convinced by the Princess to help them defeat Bowser's children and free the brothers from the tower by supplying Yoshi, Toad and herself with a large quantity of bombs and helping out in the battle. After the Princess blew up the tower, Floyd bid them farewell and took off again.
Floyd was last seen very briefly at Bowser's Castle, trying to sell automatic cameras to the guests that had come for Bowser's wedding to the resistant Princess Toadstool. He is not believed to have appeared in any North American Nintendo games or publications since.
Oddly, while daydreaming about marrying Mario in a portion of Super Mario Adventures, Princess Toadstool has Floyd as the wedding's minister; this is odd due to the fact Princess Toadstool has this daydream before actually meeting Floyd.
